Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to reveal their thoughts on what the takeover might do for Allan Saint-Maximin and his career.

What’s the story?

Well, some Newcastle fans think the imminent takeover will turn Saint-Maximin into a genuine club legend.

Some will argue that he already is one, but let’s be honest, he isn’t on the level of Alan Shearer and others just yet.

The £16.5m man – through no fault of his own – has not been in an environment built for success since he arrived from OGC Nice.

Saint-Maximin, along with his teammates and the fans, have simply been going through the motions on Tyneside.

Now, with a huge injection of cash on its way under new ownership, the Frenchman can genuinely become a club legend, and even a Premier League legend.

Just look at Vincent Kompany, for example, who rose from a mere cult hero into one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players and a Premier League icon.

Who else can lead Newcastle alongside Allan Saint-Maximin?

In all honesty, some players are not going to last under the new regime.

With all due respect, the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Joelinton and Emil Krafth are not good enough for Newcastle – the actual Newcastle.

They slot in nicely under Steve Bruce as mediocrity is currently the norm at St James’ Park.

With some ambition coming through the door, these players – some who belong in the Championship – will not survive.

In our view, only Joe Willock, Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles will be around to lead the revolution, along with Saint-Maximin.

For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Saint-Maximin’s potential under new ownership…
