According to ABC, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Marco Asensio’s contract situation at Real Madrid and are considering a move.
What’s the story?
Well, the news comes after Arsenal saw a £34m bid rejected over the summer, according to Cadena SER.
Marca also wrote that Tottenham had an offer rejected, although it’s Liverpool who are now mentioned in the latest update on Asensio.
ABC believe Jürgen Klopp’s side are weighing up a move for the 26-cap Spain international, who finds himself out of contract in June 2023.
That may seem a while away yet, although he must either renew his deal or be sold in the coming summer, or Real Madrid will lose him for nothing.
ABC add that a move to Liverpool has tempted Asensio before, which is particularly interesting.
Have Liverpool found a Mohamed Salah replacement?

In our view, nobody in Europe can replace Mohamed Salah.
However, Asensio has actually been compared to the prolific Egyptian in the past.
It was El Gol Digital who claimed that Liverpool’s scouts have spotted signs in the Real Madrid man’s game which suggest he could become a goal machine.

In that respect, it’s possible that Liverpool’s data-driven transfer approach has found Salah 2.0 – it’s certainly had plenty of success before.
So far this season, Asensio has scored three goals in six La Liga outings, although they all came in one game as he hit a hat-trick against Mallorca.
There’s no denying that Asensio has immense quality, and if Liverpool can get him on the cheap, they’d be foolish not to at least try.
