Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on Tottenham Hotspur and their interest in Dusan Vlahovic.

Spurs were linked with Vlahovic throughout the summer, but after Harry Kane failed to get his move away from north London, their swoop for Vlahovic never came to fruition.

However, this week we learnt that the Fiorentina striker will not be signing a new contract with the Serie A club and that means that a move away from Florence is on the cards.

Romano says that Tottenham will continue to monitor Vlahovic’s situation.

Romano shared what he knows about Vlahovic.

“They (Atletico Madrid) are not focused on Vlahovic right now, let’s see what happens in the summer. But Tottenham, they will keep an eye on this boy because Fabio Paratici always works like this, if he likes a player he will follow this player for a long time. So Tottenham will keep an eye on Vlahovic’s situation, but a lot of clubs in Europe will keep an eye on this situation. He is officially an opportunity, his contract is up in 2023 so Fiorentina need to sell the player in January or in summer,” Romano said.

“I think whoever will sign this boy will sign one of the best strikers for the future.” Romano concluded.

Competitive

While Erling Haaland will be the main focus for many of the top clubs looking for a striker next summer, Dusan Vlahovic is a player that shouldn’t be forgotten about.

At the age of just 21, Vlahovic has proven himself to be one of Serie A’s top marksmen. He hit 21 goals last season while he already has four goals in seven appearances this term.

At his age, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, and he could be an ideal Harry Kane replacement for Tottenham if they decide to firm up their interest.

Unfortunately, as Romano says, many clubs will be looking to sign Vlahovic this summer and if Spurs’ fortunes don’t improve, it’s hard to see them winning the race for the Serbian without Champions League football on offer.
