On My Block Filming Locations

On My Block follows four teenagers within the rough neighborhood of Freeridge in which they grow up.

As the show generally follows their day-to-day lives and the shenanigans they get up to, the show takes place within the same, familiar settings, including the characters’ houses, Freeridge High School, and the surrounding neighborhood.

There is little information on where the show is specifically filmed, however, some discussions between fans seem to have pinpointed where the show is filmed.

Burbank, California

Thanks to the following Reddit discussion on the Netflix show’s subreddit, fans are in agreeance that On My Block is filmed around Burbank, California.

Redditor, anjelly19, provided research that referenced season 1 episode 9 of the show, where Abuelita uses a map that resembles the Burbank region in North Los Angeles.

Despite past reports claiming that On My Block was filmed in South Central Los Angeles, a few fans of the show who are California residents confirmed that the area presented on the map looks very similar to Burbank.

Another Redditor confirmed seeing a Holiday Inn building in the opening shot of the show, which is also located in Burbank.

Is Freeridge a real place?

Set within the city of Los Angeles, On My Block is established to be set in the neighborhood of Freeridge, located in the South Central area.

This neighborhood is a fictional location, confirmed by the show to be populated by Hispanic and African-American residents.

In the show, the two gangs, the Santos and the Prophets, are rivals within the neighborhood.
