Pundit Chris Sutton has predicted that Manchester City will make a new move to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in January.

City drew 2-2 away at Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, but may feel they missed a real opportunity at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola’s men created chance after chance in the first half but couldn’t take any of them.

You had to wonder whether City would have taken those chances if they had signed a striker over the summer, such as Harry Kane.

City were keen to land Kane over the summer, but Tottenham stood firm.

Kane is yet to score a Premier League goal this season, but City would surely still be keen if a deal was possible.

Sutton predicts new move for Kane, doubt Tottenham will sell

Pundit Sutton has now told the Daily Mail that he thinks City will at least ask the question in January.

Sutton doubts that Tottenham will actually sell, believing that Daniel Levy will ignore City’s calls.

Sutton does though believe that this would be a huge statement from City, given that Liverpool will lose Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

“If City do not win the Premier League this year, their lack of a striker is what will be held against them. Guardiola never hid his desire to sign Harry Kane,” said Sutton. “Imagine if City go back in for the Tottenham striker in January and get him, at the same time that Liverpool are losing Salah and Mane. What a statement that would be.”

“I don’t expect it to happen, in truth. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is bound to ignore any calls that come from Manchester. But I bet City ask the question, at the very least,” he added.

If Levy was reluctant to sell in the summer, imagine his stance in January?

Tottenham surely wouldn’t sell in the middle of the season, but if City come up with a ridiculous offer and Kane continues to struggle for goals at Tottenham, you just never know.
