Massive social media outages have meant that WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram are all down and users are left unsure of what has happened.

Report tracking website DownDetector shows that over 30,000 people have reported an Instagram outage since 4:49pm today.

Instagram has shared an update on Twitter, writing: “Instagram and friends are having a little bit of a hard time right now, and you may be having issues using them. Bear with us, we’re on it! #instagramdown.”

Instagram users are currently unable to refresh their feeds or view new content on the app due to the social media outage.

Some Instagram users have also been met with a message which states: “5xx server error.”

This means that the server is unable to fulfil your request, essentially meaning that the problems which are happening to your app were caused by the server.

Users who want to get onto Facebook are met with a message which reads: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”

WhatsApp users are also currently unable to send messages.

UPDATE: Instagram and Facebook are back up and running.
