West Ham United fell to defeat this afternoon as they were beaten 2-1 by London neighbours Brentford – and fans are calling for Alphonse Areola.

The Hammers have impressed this season but came unstuck against a superb Bees side.

Bryan Mbeumo put Brentford in front in the first half, but Jarrod Bowen appeared to have rescued a point.

There was twist in the tale though as Yoane Wissa again performed his role as super-sub, scoring late on just as he did against Liverpool last week.

West Ham fans want Areola

West Ham signed a new goalkeeper over the summer as Alphonse Areola joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Areola impressed with Fulham last season, turning in some fine performances despite Fulham’s relegation.

The Frenchman is back in London again this term but is currently sitting behind Lukasz Fabianski.

Areola has been West Ham’s cup goalkeeper, but fans now want him to start over Fabianski.

Some feel Fabianski was at fault for Brentford’s goals today, which does feel a little harsh.

There is a belief that Areola now needs to be the Premier League goalkeeper and Fabianski for the cup games.

Some think Areola is more commanding and enough is enough with Fabianski in goal, urging Moyes to go with Areola.
