Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore appear to be taking a dent as he prepares to sign a new deal.
The Daily Mail report that Traore is now closing in on a new £100,000-a-week deal at Molineux amid fears over his future.
Traore is currently approaching the final 18 months of his Wolves deal, with his value decreasing the closer and closer he gets to becoming a free agent.
Now though, even with Traore benched for Wolves’ last two Premier League games, the Spaniard is set to stay.
Tottenham’s interest in Traore
Traore’s seemingly imminent decision would kill off a move to Tottenham.
Tottenham pushed to sign Traore before the August transfer deadline, having a loan bid rejected according to The Times.
The Athletic added that Tottenham had one final £30million attempt on deadline day, but Wolves said no.
Nuno Espirito Santo loved Traore at Wolves and wanted a reunion.
With Traore twice benched over the last week, maybe Tottenham had some new hope, but that looks to be extinguishing.
Tottenham fans react
Tottenham fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the latest Traore rumours, with some believing that a bullet has been dodged.
Some believe that Traore should actually be very careful, as he could end up stuck at Wolves like Wilfried Zaha has at Crystal Palace.
There is a belief that Wolves is ultimately Traore’s level, and that he would be wise to stay there instead of joining Tottenham.
Others now hope Tottenham go another winger such as Ismaila Sarr, Raphinha, Luis Diaz or Allan Saint-Maximin.
