Alan Smith has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:50pm, October 2, 2021) that Arsenal right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu struggled against Brighton and Hove Albion last night.
The former Arsenal striker has said that Gunners defender Tomiyasu had a torrid time against Marc Cucurella of Brighton.
Arsenal played out a goalless draw with Brighton away from home in the Premier League last night.
Smith said about Cucurella, as transcribed by Metro: “He was a constant threat up that left-hand side.
‘Tomiyasu will be glad to see the back of him, that first half especially he gave him a torrid time.
“He’s got the energy, he’s got the stamina you need for this league but he’s also got the quality, he’s got the heart as well.”

How did Takehiro Tomiyasu play?
Tomiyasu, who can also play as a centre-back, has established himself as an important player for Arsenal.
The 22-year-old Japan international has become the first-choice right-back for manager Mikel Arteta.
The former Bologna star has been doing well this season, but he did struggle against the Seagulls.

Cucurella was superb down his flank and really gave the defender a hard time.
Tomiyasu was caught out in possession on a number of occasions and could not always pick the right pass.
The Arsenal no.22 had a pass accuracy of 74.2%, won one header, took 53 touches, and made two interceptions and two clearances.
It was a disappointing performance from the Arsenal right-back, but we have to admit that every player has bad games.
Tomiyasu will recover.
