Arsenal are back in the hunt for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling as talks over a new deal move at something of a snail’s pace.

That’s according to the Daily Star, who claim that Sterling’s talks over staying at Manchester City under new terms are back underway.

However, talks are moving slowly and Sterling is approaching the final 18 months of his City contract.

If no deal can be done soon, Sterling may end up looking to leave City in the near future – and Arsenal are keen.

Arsenal’s interest in Sterling

It’s claimed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Sterling. After all, they worked together during their time at Manchester City.

The hope would be that Sterling fancies working under Arteta once again and decides to join him at Arsenal.

Arteta has been hailed as the man who helped Sterling take his game to another level at City.

Arteta’s pulling power has helped Arsenal sign players in the past, but Sterling would be something else.

An England regular and a three-time Premier League winner, Sterling would be unlike any signing in recent years for Arsenal.

Is an Arsenal move actually realistic?

Probably not.

The report claims that Sterling wants an increase on his £300,000-a-week wages at City. Sterling is seeking £350,000-a-week and that could be out of Arsenal’s reach.

Add in that Arsenal would have to pay a considerable fee too, and this would be a hugely expensive deal.

Sterling could be attracted by a move back to London, but Arsenal are nowhere near City’s level right now and, quite frankly, this would be a big step down for the 26-year-old.
