The American comedy-drama Maid has landed on Netflix, starring Margaret Qualley, Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Andie MacDowell, Tracy Vilar, and Billy Burke, and fans are wondering where the limited series was filmed.
Inspired by the memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive, by Stephanie Land, Maid follows Alex (Qualley) who escapes an abusive relationship as a young mother to find a job cleaning houses.
Maid filming locations
The Netflix show was filmed in its entirety in British Columbia, as many scenes were shot on location.
Principle photography for Maid began in September 2020 and ran until April 2021.
Greater Victoria, British Columbia
The Greater Victoria region of British Columbia was used quite frequently during filming, as well as the southwest capital city, Colwood.
The Esquimalt Lagoon, located to the east of Colwood, was included in the film’s lensing process.
Langford and Sooke were also used as filming locations in and around Victoria.
When Alex, the protagonist of Maid, is traveling between locations, Lagoon Road, Belmont Road, Ocean Boulevard, and the Patricia Bay Highway were all used.
Additionally, the Saanich neighborhood, Ten Mile Point, was used for filming, used as the first house Alex cleaned.
It was also reported that some landscape shots were filmed in Vancouver.
Will the Netflix show return for season 2?
No, it is not expected that Maid will return for a second season on Netflix.
Created by Molly Smith Metzler, Maid was ordered and promoted as a limited series, which usually means that the narrative will conclude in one season.
Some shows on other streaming platforms have broken this rule and ordered a second season after being billed as a limited series or miniseries. However, Maid is not expected to follow this route.
