Andros Townsend has shared in a column on the official Everton website that he finds it a dream to be playing alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin since moving to Goodison Park.

Rafa Benitez signed Townsend on a free transfer in July as he added an experienced winger to the Toffees ranks. Everton had to operate shrewdly in the summer market as they dealt with FFP concerns, with a league-low £1.6m spent.

Yet, despite being frugal operators, Everton have started the term strongly to sit sixth after six games. Townsend has also been key to results under Benitez, with two goals and two assists over five Premier League starts.

Townsend has only played three games with Calvert-Lewin, so far, after the Everton striker sustained a quadriceps injury last month. The blow kept the £72k-a-week forward out of games with Burnley, Aston Villa and Norwich, after netting three in three to start the term.

Townsend is looking forward to playing alongside Calvert-Lewin again soon after returning to training this week, per the Liverpool Echo. Although his work at Finch Farm was away from the rest of the Toffees’ first-team. So, will likely miss their trip to Manchester United.

“I can’t wait to link up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin again,” Townsend wrote. “In the Premier League last season, I delivered the most successful crosses, and he scored the most headers. So, it is a dream to be playing with him.”

Can Calvert-Lewin and Townsend form a powerful Everton partnership?

Benitez will hope Calvert-Lewin and Townsend can form a powerful partnership upon the Everton striker’s return from Injury. They did not combine for any goals during the 24-year-old’s three appearances to start the season.

Townsend has been one of Everton’s most important creative operators so far, however. The 30-year-old has provided a joint team-high 11 key passes with Lucas Digne. While only the French full-back has offered more accurate crosses with 10 to six so far, per SofaScore.

Calvert-Lewin additionally won 13 aerial duels over his outings, after winning 154 last term, the fourth-most in the league. Only Michael Keane (15), Yerry Mina (15) and Digne (14) have won more for Everton this season.

So, there is certainly reason for Townsend to look forward to building a dream partnership with Calvert-Lewin at Everton.
