Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Emile Heskey has been speaking about Liverpool and their blossoming star Curtis Jones.

Jones has emerged as one of the Reds’ most important players in recent weeks, putting in starring performances against both Porto and Brentford.

Heskey has high hopes for Jones, and he believes that the midfielder has what it takes to be the Merseyside club’s long-term Georginio Wijnaldum replacement.

What’s been said?

Heskey was speaking about the departure of Wijnaldum and how Liverpool have replaced him.

“I think with Wijnaldum they were probably looking at Curtis Jones and they want to give youth a chance. They were probably looking at that and thinking he has to step up to the plate, because they want to give these kids a chance, but they have to take the opportunities, but he’s shown that he’s more than capable of taking these opportunities,” Heskey said.

The future is bright

Jones looks like he will be a star for Liverpool for years to come, and he’s not the only young midfield talent they’ve got coming through.

Don’t forget, before Jones made his mark in the team, Harvey Elliott was shining in that midfield role, and he looked to be an equally exciting prospect.

The Reds’ midfield for the next decade could be sorted if Elliott and Jones continue to develop at this rate, and when you add in the recent links to Jude Bellingham, you have to believe that Liverpool could have the best midfield in the world in a few years’ time.
