Fans of the hit anime series ‘The Rising of the Shield Hero’ would have been disappointed to hear that season 2 was delayed, but a new release date has now been confirmed!

It’s been nearly three years since the season 1 finale of The Rising of the Shield Hero aired…it’s a good thing anime fans are so patient.

However, that patience is going to be tested once again, with the sequel season experiencing a significant two-cour delay.

Now, fans around the world are wondering when Naofumi and company will return for another adventure?

The Rising of the Shield Hero: Season 2 release date confirmed

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 will release in April 2022 in accordance with the Spring anime broadcasting slate, following a delay to the original Fall 2021 premiere window.

The anime series was officially renewed at the 2019 Crunchyroll Expo, with a release date set for October 2021.

However, it has since been confirmed that the second season has been delayed until April 2022.

A reason for the delay was not revealed but is expected to be related to the ongoing issues with production in Japan caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Season 3 has already been confirmed…

The good news for fans of The Rising of the Shield Hero is that we already know where the series’ future lies.

When the anime was renewed for a second season in 2019, it was also confirmed that a third season would be produced!

However, considering the availability of source material from the manga and the franchises global popularity, not many fans would have been too surprised by this news.

A release date for The Rising of the Shield Hero season 3 has not been shared, but will likely premiere in Q2 2023.

Where to watch Rising of the Shield Hero…

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 1 is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Both platforms offer a 14-day free trial, with premium accounts costing £7.99 a month for Crunchyroll and £4.99 on Funimation.

The series is also available on Amazon Prime Video in both subbed and dubbed options.

Unfortunately, Netflix only provides the series in selected territories but could launch in more locations in the lead-up to season 2.

Fans can expect the second season to be simulcast on either Crunchyroll or Funimation, before arriving on other platforms several months later after the finale.

Season 2 voice cast and staff…

We are expecting the same voice cast and staff from season 1 to reprise their roles, with the only change being Masato Jinbo replacing Takao Abo as series director.

The second season’s sound director will be Fumiyuki Gou (Overlord), music by Kevin Penkin (Tower of God) and produced by Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) and DR Movie (Onyx Equinox).
