Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has delivered an update on his fitness, describing his injury as a ‘minor’ one.
The striker missed Leeds’ last game against West Ham United, but luckily, it sounds as though he will be back sooner rather than later, although Watford this weekend may come too soon for the number nine.
Indeed, it doesn’t sound as though Bamford is back in full training yet, stating that he’s been using his time on the sidelines to build his strength and work on areas he wouldn’t usually focus on.
What’s been said?
Bamford was discussing his injury.
“I was out for that period when I joined Leeds. I learnt a lot then of how to deal with being injured, setting goals and not rushing the process, knowing that you’re going to get better and it’s going to take time, so just accept it,” Bamford said.
“This one is a minor injury really, it’s nothing massive. Obviously, it’s taken a few weeks, but it’s not a long, long-term one, so I’ve just used this time to build strength and do things I wouldn’t usually do,” Bamford said.

May come back stronger
Bamford being out is certainly a blow for Leeds, but there’s reason to believe he may come back even stronger.
It’s not a long-term injury, so he shouldn’t lose any pace or fitness, but the fact that he’s able to work on training areas he wouldn’t usually work on is interesting.
Bamford being sidelined may provide him the chance to finetune certain areas that he usually neglects and if that is the case, he may return as a much more well-rounded striker.
