Leeds United midfielder and Manchester United target Kalvin Phillips fears Marcelo Bielsa will leave the club at the end of the season.

That’s according to the Daily Star, who claim that Leeds are desperate to get Phillips tied down to a new contract as soon as possible.

Talks are thought to be at an early stage with Phillips, but he could become the highest-paid player in the Leeds squad if he stays.

Phillips doesn’t want to leave Leeds, but…

It’s stated that Phillips, understandably, isn’t in any rush to leave Leeds.

The midfielder has emerged through the Leeds ranks and obviously has emotional ties to the club.

Manchester United are keen though, and could offer him a big move to Old Trafford.

That didn’t go down too well when Alan Smith made the same move, which is why Phillips has a lot to think about.

Fears over Bielsa

The report states that Phillips fears that this will ultimately be Marcelo Bielsa’s final season at Leeds.

Bielsa turns 67 next summer and famously only signs one-year deals at Leeds.

The Argentinian may feel the time is right to go at the end of the season – a fear that has been hanging over Leeds ever year.

Bielsa has stayed so far, but with this season seeming a little more difficult, there is a possibility he goes.

Phillips would hate to see that as Bielsa is the man who turned him into a star, and Leeds have to hope that neither leaves; both going would be a nightmare.
