Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he has no idea when Robin Koch will be back in action for Leeds United, claiming that an injury of his type could result in a long time on the sidelines.
Koch has only managed one Premier League appearance for Leeds this season and it came in the 5-1 defeat at Manchester United on the opening day of the campaign.
A pubis injury has ruled him out since then and Bielsa has told Leeds Live that it’s a ‘very rebellious’ injury and one that he can’t possibly put a date on.
He said: “Koch problem in pubis. Very rebellious injury. No prognostic when he will recover. Can last short period or long period of time. Subject to his evolution.”
Koch joined the Elland Road club in the summer of 2020 for £13 million [Goal].
But by virtue of the fact that he has managed only 14 starts in the Premier League since then, that’s an indication as to how unlucky the Germany international has been when it comes to fitness.
It wasn’t a huge problem last season because Leeds were still picking up victories without the big centre-back.
But this season, Bielsa’s side haven’t won any of their six games and therefore there’s a greater importance on the team’s defending.
And with Diego Llorente also sidelined, it’s no surprise really to see Leeds 18th in the table after six games.
Saturday’s visit of Watford to West Yorkshire could change that but, with the way United have been playing, it’d take a brave Leeds fan to back their side.
