Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after French journalist Romain Canuti provided an update on Matteo Guendouzi.

What’s the story?

Well, Canuti has bad news for the Arsenal fans who are hoping to see Guendouzi make it at the Emirates Stadium.

Once again – sadly – it sounds like an attitude issue with the Frenchman.

As quoted by Foot Radio, Canuti said: “There are a few players at Marseille who are struggling with Guendouzi. His way of working, when he always blames others for things, when he falls to his knees in training to implore God because a touch isn’t good enough, it grates.”

Are we ever going to stop hearing things like this?

Guendouzi is now 22, and has racked up 144 appearances throughout his senior career – when is he going to mature?

As you’ll know, Mikel Arteta sent the midfielder away on loan after he clashed with Neal Maupay and others against Brighton in June 2020.

As Football London recall, Guendouzi ignored plenty of lifelines from Arteta, and failed to show a desire to turn his situation around.

Now, it sounds like he’s still acting immaturely while on loan at Marseille.

What should Arsenal do with Matteo Guendouzi?

Arteta really does have a tough decision to make with Guendouzi.

On one hand, the £8m man is a fine footballer, and his bravery in possession so soon after arriving in the Premier League was notable.

However, as the old saying goes, hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Yes, Guendouzi has ability, but if he cannot apply himself and fix his mentality, he will not have a very bright career.

Unless Arteta sees some changes in Guendouzi this season, we wouldn’t begrudge the Spaniard for selling the problematic Frenchman.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Canuti’s comments…
