Rangers youngster Nathan Patterson has been hailed by Josh McPake amid continues interest from Premier League side Everton.

Patterson has come up through the Rangers ranks in recent times and is now regularly around the first team under Steven Gerrard.

James Tavernier remains Rangers’ first-choice right back, but Patterson has shown huge quality at the age of just 19.

With three caps for Scotland too, Patterson looks like being a star of the future. Whether that future is with Rangers remains to be seen.

Everton’s interest in Patterson

Everton have been very impressed with Patterson’s displays and wanted to sign him last month.

The Daily Mail noted that Rangers rejected two bids from Everton, worth £5million and £8million respectively.

Everton are still keen on a January move according to The Sun, with Marcel Brands keen to sign a young right back.

With Patterson stuck behind Tavernier for the foreseeable future, maybe the teenager could be tempted into leaving Rangers.

McPake praises Patterson’s progress at Rangers

Not every Rangers talent can be in first-team reckoning at such a young age, and Josh McPake has had to go out on loan.

The winger is currently on loan at Morecambe after a spell with Harrogate Town last season.

McPake will hope to join Patterson in the Rangers first team one day, and has now admitted that he thinks Patterson has been playing ‘brilliantly’ for Rangers.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times, McPake has admitted that all young players should look at Patterson as an example having seized his chance at Ibrox.

“He is doing brilliantly and he has not put a foot wrong since he has been in. For all the young boys at Rangers, they should look at Nathan,” said McPake. “That is what you want to do and when you get that glimpse of a chance you have to grasp it with two hands.”

“I was good pals with Nathan in the Academy and was close to him so I am so happy to see him flourish. I knew he would always do that because he is such a talented player. He deserves everything because he works so hard for it. He works really hard, he has made a lot of sacrifices and he deserves his rewards. I am proud of him for it,” he added.
