Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Kalvin Phillips on SPORTbible’s Instagram to ‘leave’ Leeds United amid rumours Manchester United want to sign him.

Bigger figures than Phillips have left Leeds for Old Trafford before, but if this were to ever happen, then it would cause quite a stir.

The Daily Star have claimed that Manchester United are set to turn their attention away from Declan Rice and towards his England teammate Phillips.

The 25-year-old has been one of the best defensive-minded players in the Premier League over the last 12 months, which has seen him rise from the Championship to the final of Euro 2020 with England.

And former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor thinks the time for Phillips has come to leave, as he sent this pretty blunt message, as posted on SPORTbible’s IG post:

“Yes, he should leave and go to a big club,” said the former Premier League hitman.

Rio Ferdinand and Eric Cantona aren’t probably allowed back into Elland Road after their high-profile departures from many years ago.

Now, Leeds fans will be pretty confident in thinking that one of their own wouldn’t make such a move.

But if Man United do knock, it will be interesting to see how Leeds and the player react.

It’s obvious, that the recently trophy-shy Manchester club, are in need of a number six and many of their fans believe it’s the final piece of the jigsaw, although some may point towards the manager as being a piece that just doesn’t fit in their jigsaw.

Either way, with Leeds back in the big time, they will no doubt put up some serious fight in order to keep their star man at the club, regardless of who knocks.
