Leeds United fans were impressed by Conor Gallagher’s performance during Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Brighton on Monday night.

The 21-year-old, who was a target for Leeds in the summer before he opted to move to Selhurst Park, was probably the best player on the pitch.

It was his run inside the penalty area that resulted in Palace winning a penalty in the first half – he was fouled twice – with Wilfried Zaha putting the spot-kick away.

Leeds fans liked what they saw from the energetic midfielder, who presses opposition teams like he has just come out of the footballing school of Marcelo Bielsa and Pep Guardiola.

Added with that, it’s the Chelsea loanee’s constant desire to attack teams, pick up pockets of spaces and link-up play as much as he can.

An all-action style well suited to those in Yorkshire, which is understandable why the Leeds faithful are gutted about missing out on his talents.

From being in the Championship at clubs like Swansea City, the tough experience of getting relegated with West Brom last season now joining a much-changed Palace team.

All of this is just making Gallagher stronger, and in truth, it has to be questioned why he shouldn’t get a first-team shot at Stamford Bridge next season.

If not, and he is allowed to leave on loan again or on a permanent basis, then it will be interesting to see if Leeds push for his talents once more.
