Celtic fans didn’t exactly love Shane Duffy last season, but Brighton and Hove Albion fans are glad to have their defender back on the South Coast.

Duffy started for Brighton on Monday night as they snatched a 1-1 draw against rivals Crystal Palace.

Neal Maupay’s last-gasp leveller handed Brighton a point, sparking wild celebrations from Seagulls players, fans and staff.

Duffy was at the forefront of the celebrations, even winding up some Palace fans in the process.

Duffy endured Celtic difficulties

Irish defender Duffy spent last season on loan at Celtic, his boyhood club.

It was seen as a dream move for Duffy, but it quickly became a nightmare.

Duffy struggled to find top form at Celtic, often making mistakes or looking completely off the boil.

When Duffy was loaned out, it looked like Duffy’s Brighton career would be over.

Against all odds, Duffy has been brought back into Graeme Potter’s side and is impressing again in the Premier League.

Brighton fans send messages to Duffy

Brighton fans have been taking to Twitter to send messages to the centre back.

Some called him ‘immense’ and ‘class’, praising his partnership with Lewis Dunk at the back.

Others feel like Duffy has never really been away, believing he is now back home after his dismal Celtic spell.

Having endured a difficult time at Celtic, Duffy is surely loving his football again on the South Coast.
