Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested to the club’s official website that Curtis Jones needs to be more consistent.

Klopp made the comments about Jones following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Brentford in the Premier League last night.

The 20-year-old midfielder started the match and scored a superb goal.

The youngster was substituted immediately.

Liverpool boss Klopp was impressed by the youngster’s performance, but he believes that Jones needs to be more consistent.

Jurgen Klopp’s verdict

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Jones: “Curtis is a top player. He is still a talent but a really, really good package and you felt that tonight. I thought he played a really good game.

“He won in the first half the best balls for us pretty much – he was really good in these situations. On top of that, he was involved in all football situations. He dropped in the right space, he was brave in between the lines, so many good things.

“But that’s football – he’s still young and consistency is then maybe sometimes a little bit of [an] issue. But in this moment he is in a really good moment and old enough to keep that moment going.”

As Klopp himself notes, Jones is very young, and players of his age do not always have consistency.

It will come.

What is important is that Jones continues to work hard and makes the most of the chances he gets.

The Englishman is a central midfielder, and it is not easy for him to play regularly for Liverpool.

After all, Liverpool have the likes of Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in their team.

However, Klopp clearly likes and rates Jones, who could get chances this season due to injuries and suspensions.

Jones has scored three goals in 32 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
