John Terry wrote on Instagram to Kortney Hause ‘love it mate’ after Aston Villa beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.
It was an afternoon to remember for Hause because it could have been very different for the hard-hitting Villa defender.
Hause is Dean Smith’s back-up centre-back and was he was only starting because Axel Tuanazebe couldn’t play against his parent club.
Therefore, it was pretty hilarious that it was that very same player who powered home the winning header minutes from time.
Villa fans were in dreamland thinking that three points were in the bag.
Only for Man United to be awarded a penalty – after it was adjudged that Hause handled the ball in the area – for like the 100th time against Villa.
But to the relief of Hause, Bruno Fernandes stepped up, and not Cristiano Ronaldo, to fire the ball over the bar, over the stands and straight into Trafford Centre.
When Hause took to Instagram to give his reaction, he stated ‘that was close’ before several current and ex-players posted their responses.
Anwar El Ghazi, who was an unused substitute during the game, wrote: “So happy for you bro! Deserved.”
Whilst John Terry, who left Villa’s coaching set-up this summer, added a simple three-word response: “Love it mate.”
And Emiliano Martinez labelled Hause’s display as a “powerful performance.”
Either way, it was a deserved victory for Dean Smith’s men, who secured their first three points and clean sheet on the road this term.
Their next step is the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – and after Oleksandr Usyk’s devastating performance against Anthony Joshua, last night in North London – Villa will be hoping to be the second set of visitors to outclass those on home soil next week.
