Tim Sherwood has said on Sky Sports News (1:33pm, September 25, 2021) that Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl would be an upgrade on Nuno at Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Tottenham manager has also said that Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter would be an upgrade on Nuno at Tottenham in terms of playing style.

Sherwood believes that Hasenhuttl’s style of football would suit Spurs fans and has pointed at how he has coped with pressure and setbacks at Southampton.

The Saints lost 9-0 to Manchester United last season and went down 9-0 to Leicester City in October 2019.

Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (1:33pm, September 25, 2021): “I can think of two managers who would take the job tomorrow who are certainly an upgrade on the style that Tottenham fans want and what they demand.

“I think there’s Potter at Brighton, and the guy you mentioned earlier, Hasenhuttl.

“I think he deals with the pressure, he has been beat 9-0 twice, he comes back from that, he still has the identity of how his team wants to play, on the front foot, give the fans what they want to see.”

Tottenham appointed Nuno in the summer.

Spurs did not have to pay any compensation for the Portuguese, as he had left Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season.

Now, Nuno is not exactly a manager who plays wonderful football, but he is not really as defensive as he is often made out to be.

Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez combined well at Wolves when Nuno was in charge.

Spurs are not creating enough chances for Harry Kane and are also conceding goals at the moment.

Southampton’s Hasenhuttl, 54, and Brighton’s Potter are very good managers.

However, it is very unlikely that Tottenham will sack Nuno now.

Moreover, Southampton and Brighton are not going to simply let their managers leave if Spurs come calling.
