Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes missing a late penalty against Dean Smith’s Aston Villa at Old Trafford today.
What’s the story?
Villa have got the better of United 1-0 away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League this afternoon.
Kortney Hause scored the only goal of the match in the 88th minute.
Douglas Luiz provided the assist for the goal.
However, deep into injury time, Hause gave away a penalty.
United attacking midfielder Fernandes stepped up to take the spot kick.
Cristiano Ronaldo was also on the pitch at Old Trafford at the time.
Fernandes could not keep his penalty on target, and Villa won 1-0.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker believes that following Fernandes’s failure to score from the penalty spot today, his Portugal international teammate and star forward Ronaldo will now be taking the spot kicks for United.
Ex-Villa star Ahmed Elmohamady has taken to Twitter to express his delight at the win for the Villans.
It was a disappointing result for United, but Villa will be over the moon to have picked up all three points at Old Trafford.
It is not easy to win against a team that has Ronaldo in it, but Villa have done just that and should be proud.
