Nuno’s Tottenham Hotspur and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona in the January transfer window, according to El Nacional.

What’s the story?

It has been reported by El Nacional that Tottenham and Arsenal wanted to sign Coutinho in the summer transfer window.

Spurs and Arsenal remain keen on securing the services of the Brazil international attacking midfielder.

Barcelona were hoping that Liverpool sign the 29-year-old, but manager Jurgen Klopp has decided against bringing Coutinho back to Anfield.

Would Philippe Coutinho make Tottenham better?

Arsenal signed Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners also have Emile Smith Rowe, which is why you have to ask why they would want Coutinho in January.

Now, Spurs could do with a player like the Brazilian.

Tottenham are struggling to create chances, and the absence of Christian Eriksen is being keenly felt now.

Coutinho may not have been a huge success at Barcelona, but the 29-year-old playmaker knows the Premier League well and would be able to make an immediate impact at Spurs.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino called his Brazilian compatriot “phenomenal” who has “magical powers”, as quoted on FIFA in October 2020.

Coutinho scored 41 goals in 152 Premier League matches for Liverpool.
