Some Liverpool fans want to swap Naby Keita for Jude Bellingham.
Keita’s long-term future at Anfield is in some doubt after Bild journalist Christian Falk reported this week that he wouldn’t be staying at Liverpool if his first-team prospects didn’t improve.
The 26-year-old has played four times in the Premier League this season but only started two of those games.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham.
Falk also told Bild this week that the Reds are certainly interested in the 18-year-old England midfielder.
And some fans of the Merseyside club want Michael Edwards, their director of football, to use Keita as a makeweight toward bringing the teenage sensation to Liverpool.
Here’s what they’re saying:
It must be noted that there’s no talk of Keita joining Dortmund and Bellingham going the other way in a player-plus-cash deal.
It would be an absolutely stunning piece of business for Liverpool, because this kid is very much the real deal and his goal in the Champions League against Manchester City last term proved as much, at the age of 17.
But with Keita’s injury issues, the German giants aren’t going to touch the Guinea international with a barge pole.
When fit, he can be absolutely brilliant, but fitness issues have stifled his three-year spell under Jurgen Klopp and it makes zero sense for Dortmund to offer up a generational talent in exchange for him and money.
