Paul Merson has predicted on SportsKeeda that Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea will win against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in London.

Chelsea will take on City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Former Arsenal star Merson has backed Chelsea to pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a 2-1 win.

The Sky Sports pundit has said that he does not tend to predict a loss for City, but he believes that not having a striker is going to hurt the Citizens.

Paul Merson’s prediction

Merson wrote on SportsKeeda: “This is obviously a hard game to call. I said from day one that every game counts this season in the Premier League – I don’t see the top four teams losing 4-5 times over the course of 38 games.

“Chelsea played both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks and ripped both of them to shreds, so I think they will fancy their chances.

“Manchester City, on the other hand, have failed to score in two of their first five Premier League games, which is a bit worrying for a team of their caliber.

“I don’t usually bet against Manchester City because on their day, they blow teams away, but the fact that they don’t have a center forward is hurting them already. They are looking after Kevin De Bruyne and his ankle, but this is a game he should start.

“That said, Chelsea have home advantage and are coming on the back of two stunning results, so I fancy them to get the job done.”

A footnote added: “Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Manchester City”.

Who’ll win Chelsea v Manchester City?

Chelsea are in great form at the moment, with star striker Romelu Lukaku banging in the goals.

The former Manchester United striker has already scored three goals in four Premier League appearances this season.

The Blues have beaten Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur already this season and have also drawn with Liverpool.

Under Tuchel, Chelsea are looking very menacing.

However, we can never write off City even if they do not have a world-class striker like Lukaku.

The Citizens are the defending Premier League champions, and manager Guardiola does pull off some outstanding results.

Of course, even drawing against Chelsea will be tough, but do not be surprised if Guardiola produces a masterclass and wins the game.
