Phil Thompson has said on the ‘Where’s Jeff?’ Podcast that he cannot believe that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window.
The Liverpool legend and former Sky Sports pundit is not a fan of Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper moved to the Gunners from Sheffield United in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal paid the Blades £24 million for the Englishman, according to The Athletic.
Thompson said about Ramsdale on the ‘Where’s Jeff?’ Podcast: “I am not so sure of him, I will be honest. I am not sure of either of them, Leno or Ramsdale.
“What I have seen of him at Sheffield United and Arsenal were paying so much money.
“I know they were relegated and I know you could say well it takes a lot more than a goalkeeper, but he didn’t cover himself in glory in any of the games. I thought he had a torrid season, not saving much.”

Wrong signing for Arsenal?
Ramsdale got relegated with the Blades from the Premier League at the end of last season.
The campaign before the 23-year-old went down from the English top flight with Bournemouth.
That is not a good look on Ramsdale’s CV, but clearly the 23-year-old cannot be solely blamed.

Ramsdale is good with his feet, and let’s not forget that he is only 23.
A transfer fee of £24 million nowadays is not really much, especially for a goalkeeper who has been signed to become the number one between the posts.
Ramsdale has kept clean sheets in all three of the competitive games he has played for Arsenal so far this season.
The English goalkeeper has made such an impression on the Arsenal bosses that the club are now reportedly considering selling Bernd Leno in the January transfer window.
