Aston Villa are reportedly contemplating sending Cameron Archer out on loan during the January transfer window.
According to Birmingham Live, the Midlands side have been impressed with the teenager’s performances in the EFL Cup. So much so that Dean Smith could loan out the attacker when the market opens.
Archer has six months left on his contract with Villa, and a loan move could be followed by a new deal for the 19-year-old forward. The academy star has been in stunning form in the League Cup this season.
The attacker bagged a hat-trick in the second round of the competition against AFC Barrow. Archer followed up this Man of the Match performance with a stunning goal against Chelsea earlier this week.
Although Villa were unable to progress against the Blues, Archer won plenty of plaudits from supporters and pundits for his performance against the European champions.
Archer is one of many youngsters coming through at Villa, and whilst a loan move could be beneficial for the teenager, supporters on social media are not so keen on the idea.
Even with Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings on the club’s books, Villa fans believe it’s best for Archer to stay with the Premier League side rather than head out on loan.
Here’s what some supporters had to say on Twitter about Archer potentially leaving in January…
There’s no way on this planet Archer should go anywhere on loan. He should be our 3rd choice striker given Keinan Davis has had enough chances— themightyi21 (@themightyi21) September 23, 2021
