Who is Zion Clark?

Hailed from Ohio, athlete Zion Clark was born with Caudal Regression Syndrome, a disorder that impairs the development of the lower spine.

Clark has previously shared details of his upbringing, revealing that he had grown up in the foster care system for the first 16 years of his life.

The athlete said: “In my case, my birth mother did not take care of her body at all while she was pregnant with me, she was on a multitude of different drugs, and that caused me to have defects.”

Later on, Zion was adopted by Kimberli Hawkins, who had always dreamed of having a son. Speaking about Hawkins, Clark gushed: “To me, it’s not a foster mother. A lot of people say foster mother and I’m not a big fan of that because she is my mother.”

As Clark entered school, he discovered a newfound passion for wrestling. Credited to Hawkins’ support, Zion persevered until he became “one of the best guys in the state” by his senior year of high school.

Zion said: “I started wrestling in second grade.

“When I was really little, the first few matches, I didn’t know what to do and neither did my opponent. Some kids were scared to wrestle me – I was scared to wrestle them. I didn’t know what I was doing…

“Being born without legs hasn’t stopped me from doing the things I want to do.”

Clark went on to successfully launch into the world of pro-wrestling.

Zion Clark holds Guinness World Record

Back in February of this year, the athlete attempted the fastest 20m walking on hands at his former high school gym in Massillon, Ohio and, you guessed it – he smashed the record!

Finishing the distance with an incredible time of 4.78 seconds, Zion Clark was able to announce to the world that he is now a Guinness World Record holder.

He said: “Everybody was excited, I was excited, my girlfriend was excited… it was just a moment man!”

Clark later shared the news on Instagram, writing: “What a great feeling to be a Guinness World Record Holder! @guinnessworldrecords

“Especially considering every school K-12 keeps a copy of this book. My goal in life is to inspire kids to be whatever they want to be in life, don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do!”
