Netflix has not publicly confirmed the described launch time but is based on the platforms typical update window for new content. Season 2 of Kota Factory is therefore expected to premiere through the streaming giant at the following international times:

  • Pacific Time: 12 AM PDT
  • Eastern Time: 3 AM EDT
  • British Time: 8 AM BST
  • European Time: 9 AM CEST
  • Pakistan Time: 12 PM PKT
  • India Time: 12.30 PM IST

Why is Kota Factory in black and white?

Kota Factory is filming in colour and then graded to its now-iconic monochrome, black and white, theme in the post-production process.

Speaking to the Press Trust of India, via First Post, director Raghav Subbu said that the decision to produce Kota Factory in this manner was because “the point of art is to question things” and that he wants viewers.

“I wanted to do a spin on something that is so set in stone. (The general idea is) it’s either like a ‘Sin City’, which has a very graphic novel kind of feel or a period piece like ‘The Artist’. We have these associations that we have in our head when it comes to everything. As a director and as a creator, I want to challenge those things.” – Raghav Subbu, via PTI and First Post.

Subbu would then explain how he wants viewers to “intrinsically reflect and discuss” the colour scheme but stated that “the moment I say that this is the specific reason, it loses its charm and its meaning.”

How was season 1 rated?

Season 1 of Kota Factory received an exceptionally positive reception from both fans and critics alike.

The most obvious clue for Kota Factory’s global success is none other than the views that season 1 obtained on YouTube. At the time of writing, the first five episodes have a combined total exceeding 150 million views!

Not only does this make Kota Factory one of the most successful web series available on YouTube, but The Viral Fever’s most lucrative title.

The series has also scored highly on various user-based feedback websites, including a fantastic 9.2/10 rating on IMDB with more than 56,000 reviews.

“Going by season one’s response, it was intimidating to jump into season two because you automatically feel the need to not ape or mimic what worked in season one. As a director, I was looking to see that this show progresses organically into what it was supposed to be and not what it should be.” – Raghav Subbu, via PTI and First Post.
