Speaking on the Where’s Jeff? Podcast, Charlie Nicholas has been full of praise for Leon Bailey after his incredible showing against Everton on Saturday evening.

The Jamaican netted his first Villa goal, while he also played a part in Lucas Digne’s own-goal, with his corner being deflected into the back of the net.

Nicholas was very impressed by what he saw from Bailey, and he thinks it’s just a matter of time before he becomes a starter in this Villa team.

Nicholas had nothing but good things to say about Bailey.

“I thought he was excellent. I know the Villa fans have been talking about this lad for a while, and they were just waiting for the right time to put him into the side. I think Ollie Watkins looks sharp and that partnership with Danny Ings who is intelligent, could be a real strength. Bailey, you’re right, it was a brilliant finish. He didn’t think too long about it, he just wanted to get his laces through it and it will do him the world of good. The manager is probably sat there now saying ‘I’ve got another one, I’ve picked another one’. He’ll eventually be a starter, he’ll be a starter eventually,” Nicholas said.

Villa’s frightening frontline

Bailey’s showing against Everton proved just how scary Villa can be going forward this season.

The Midlands club have an incredibly frightening attack. Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings are both strikers capable of hitting double figures in terms of goals at this level, while Emi Buendia is a fantastic playmaker.

Bailey’s pace and technical ability adds another dimension to this attack, and we’re sure that no defence will be relishing the prospect of playing against Dean Smith’s side this term.
