The upcoming Tamil movie ‘Valimai’ has been pushed back on multiple occasions but after months of waiting, we finally have a confirmed release date.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic affected the production of countless cinema projects from every corner of the world. However, not many projects were affected as badly as the highly anticipated Tamil movie, Valimai.

The movie is written and directed by H. Vinoth, known for his work on Tamil movies such as ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’ (2017) and ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ (2019).

Thankfully, after more than a year of waiting patiently for updates on the films potential premiere, producer Boney Kapoor has finally shared the official release date online!

Valimai: Release date and delays explained

Valimai was originally scheduled to premiere alongside the Diwali celebrations in November 2020, but was delayed after the coronavirus pandemic halted filming on multiple occasions.

Fans were then left in the dark as to when the movie would premiere, with official promotional material only labelling the theatrical launch as being 2021. Many fans had thought the movies release date would be made available alongside a new single from the film, which was released to mark Ajith Kumar’s 30th year in the industry.

Thankfully, producer Boney Kapoor took to Twitter earlier this morning, September 22nd, to announce that Valimai would launch “on Pongal 2022” which will take place between Friday, January 14th and Monday, January 17th, 2022.

The movie will launch theatrically in January 2022, before it likely moves to a streaming platform around four weeks after its debut. At the time of writing, no platform has publicly acquired the streaming rights for Valimai, but is expected to be made available through ZEE5, which is one of the two involved production companies.
