Jurgen Klopp has shared that it was ‘really impressive’ that Kaide Gordon was able to go for the full ’95 minutes’ during his Liverpool debut on Tuesday night, as he told Sky Sports.

Liverpool recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Norwich City in the EFL Cup, with Klopp handing a number of youngsters their first chance of senior football.

Gordon was the youngest of them all, as the 16-year-old, who joined from Derby Country in February, played out on the right-wing.

It’s a spot usually occupied by a certain goalscoring Egyptian speedster, so no pressure there then for the teenager.

But Gordon stood tall throughout the match and put in a very respectable performance for his side.

Klopp praised the youngster and how he is ‘ready for these moments’.

“Kaide Gordon, he is ready for these moments,” said Klopp. “He is just ready for it. He is 16 and has a lot of good situations.

“What is really impressive is his physicality. He can go on until 95 minutes, that’s really strong.”

Klopp has proven on a number of occasions during his Liverpool career that if you are good enough then he will hand you that chance, regardless of age.

Gordon just needs to look towards Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones as examples and players that he can follow during these coming years.

Plus, with Mo Salah ripping it up down that right side, there isn’t a better player in world football, other than a certain Lionel Messi, that Gordon can look up to.

The Reds are now in the hat for the next round and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are drawn up against a tougher opponent whether Klopp will still hand his younger players the chance.
