Apple’s new software iOS 15 has officially launched for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.

The update comes alongside the new iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7 and AirPods 3.

On iPhone, iOS 15 has some exciting new features including being able to FaceTime non-Apple users, a faster Siri and new accessibility option Live Listen.

One of the most noticeable changes is the Safari redesign, with the tabs and search bar being visibly different.

There is also now an option to add a background photo on Safari, but how do you do it? Here’s a step-by-step guide.

With iOS 15, iPhone users now have the option to add a background photo to Safari.

This background photo will appear behind your Favourites page, which is the page that automatically opens when you open a new tab.

  1. Open Safari
  2. Tap the Tabs button in the bottom right-hand corner
  3. Press the + in the bottom left-hand corner
  4. Scroll down and tap Edit
  5. Select a background image or press the + to choose one from your camera roll

Change the Safari settings at any time

If you don’t like your background anymore and want to go back to the plain Safari background, you can do so at any time.

Simply follow the steps above, and next to the phrase Background Image you will see a green On/Off switch.

Tap this and the background image option will turn off, leaving you with a plain background again.

If you’re not a fan of the new design, which sees the search bar at the bottom of the screen, you can change this too.

Head to Settings > Safari and scroll down until you see the Tabs section where there will be two options: Tab Bar and Single Tab.

If you want the search bar to be at the top of the screen, click Single Tab, and it will return to normal.
