‘He hasn’t given the ball away’: Sky pundit wowed by Liverpool youngster last night

Andy Hinchcliffe praised Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton and claimed that he was ‘really effective’ during his side’s 3-0 EFL Cup win against Norwich on Tuesday night, as he told Sky Sports during his commentary stint.

With Keita taken off as a precaution at half-time, Morton was brought on into his place and Hinchcliffe claimed that the Liverpool teenager was ‘excellent’.

Morton slotted into the holding role for the Reds, with Curtis Jones being able to push further forward and showcase his magic in the final third.

But whilst a number of the Liverpool youngsters thrived last night, including Conor Bradley and Kaiden Gordon.

Former Everton defender, Hinchcliffe, gave a special mention to Morton, who didn’t give the ball away during his 45 minutes out on the pitch.

“Just a word on Tyler Morton,” said Hinchcliffe. “He came on at half-time when Keita went off and he has been really effective in this second half.

“He has been playing that holding central-midfield role. It’s a role full of responsibility, as a young man.

“Klopp has sent him and he hasn’t given the ball away. He has been excellent.”

It was a night to remember for many of the Liverpool youngsters, who will no doubt get another chance on the senior stage given what they produced last night.

Not so long ago, Curtis Jones was making a name for himself in the EFL Cup during his side’s penalty shootout win against Arsenal.

And now he is a regular member of the first-team squad and an important player going forward for Klopp.

One of Gordon, Bradley and Morton will be hoping they are, in a few years time, on the same road Jones is currently on because there is every chance that will happen under this manager.
