Lauren Dalglish, the daughter of the Liverpool legend, has shared on Twitter that her dad claimed, before Caoimhin Kelleher’s penalty save, that he is ‘good at saving them’.
Liverpool recorded a 3-0 win over Norwich City in the EFL Cup, but whilst the scoreline suggests it was an easy night, it could have been oh so different.
At 1-0, the home side were awarded a penalty and Liverpool’s man between the sticks stood tall by saving from the spot and ensuring his team weren’t pegged back by their fellow Premier League counterparts.
There would have been a fair few nervous Liverpool fans thinking Norwich were going to score that spot-kick yesterday.
But not a certain ‘King Kenny’ because his daughter, whilst hiding behind her fingers as the penalty was about to be taken, shared what her dad said moments before the save:
It was a night to remember for a number of the Liverpool youngsters, including three teenage stars in Kaiden Gordon, Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley.
All three made their debuts last night and they didn’t look out of place, as Liverpool, despite that first-half penalty scare, strolled to victory.
In truth, Norwich must be sick of the sight of Liverpool because they are always on the end of a hiding against them.
Previously, it was a certain Luis Suarez that used to make their life a living hell, but even without him, they are still getting dispatched with ease.
Of course, on any day and occasion, the Reds will be favourites against Norwich, but sometimes it’s the manner in which they get beat that probably makes the Canaries sick of facing the Merseyside giants.
