Danny Murphy has raved about Arsenal defensive defensive midfielder Thomas Partey on talkSPORT (11:51am, September 20, 2021).

The former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has outlined what makes Partey such a special player.

The talkSPORT pundit believes that people who still doubt Partey will get to see just how good the Arsenal player is this season.

Murphy said on talkSPORT (11:51am, September 20, 2021): “I have seen a lot of Partey.

“I don’t think yet people who don’t know enough about him have seen the best of him.

“He is a really powerful intelligent footballer who is influential in that middle of the park in terms of protection of those back players.”

Big player for Arsenal

Partey has had injury problems at Arsenal ever since he made the move from Atletico Madrid last summer.

The 28-year-old Ghana international made 18 starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners last season.

The midfielder gave two assists in those games.

Partey has made one start and one substitute appearance in the league for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season.

The former Atletico star is one of the first names on the Arsenal teamsheet when he is fit and available.

For Arsenal to challenge for the European places in the Premier League table this season, Partey will have to be on top of his game.

It will be interesting to see who Arsenal manager Arteta deploys next to Partey in defensive midfield going forward.

Albert Sambi Lokonga has done well for the Gunners when he has played, but Granit Xhaka is a senior player.
