With an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%, Dear White People is one of Netflix’s most highly rated shows.
It’s been over two years since we last caught up with the students of the fictional Winchester University but at long last, the series is making its long-awaited return.
The new instalment is set to arrive on Netflix this week but just when is the release time for Dear White People season 4 and how many episodes will there be in total?
Dear White People season 3 recap
Season 3 of Dear White People arrived on Netflix more than two years ago on August 2nd, 2019.
The show’s third instalment is centred on Samantha White and the making of her short film which she struggles to piece together for much of the season.
In the final episode, Samantha finally completes her film and holds a viewing but matters only take a turn for the worse as the underlying story of the mysterious Order rears its head.
Samantha and Lionel seek out the Narrator, now known as Mr Ruskin, and they learn the truth about The Order; they are a group of influential people who run the ‘Black Illuminati’, which silences anyone who tries to dismantle a powerful Black figure.
The Order is supposedly linked to Moses Brown and how he has people in high places, ready to threaten Muffy if ever she was to speak out about what happened between them.
The season ends with Ruskin warning Samantha and Lionel that they need to “kill the narrator” or they could face the full force of The Order while the final scene shows Troy bringing them a gold coin and asking to talk.
Season 4 release date and time
Season 4 of Dear White People arrives on Netflix on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 and will be released at midnight Pacific Time in the US.
Like most Netflix releases, Dear White People season 4 will be released around the world at the same time.
That translates to 3am ET in the US, 8am here in the UK, 12:30pm in India and 5pm in Sydney, Australia.
Season 4 takes place in a post-pandemic future and sees the students of Winchester return for their senior year.
Little has been revealed about the story of season 4, although the previous revelations about The Order are expected to take centre stage.
We do know, however, that season 4 will offer up a throwback for Dear White People fans as the new season is a 90s-inspired musical event, making the new episodes the most theatrical yet.
How many episodes in season 4?
Dear White People season 4 will consist of 10 episodes in total.
The episode count should come as little surprise to fans as it’s the same as seasons 1-3, which all featured 10 episodes apiece.
Each episode is expected to run for roughly 30 minutes and unlike shows on Disney+ and Apple TV+, all episodes of season 4 will be released in one go on September 22nd.
Sadly, season 4 marks the end of Dear White People as it was confirmed when the show was renewed back in 2019 that the fourth season would be the final instalment, meaning that there will not be a season 5.
Season 4 of Dear White People arrives on Netflix on Friday, September 22nd, 2021.
