James Rodriguez is close to sealing a move to Qatar after landing in the Middle East earlier today.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Colombian international is in talks with an unnamed club. The Everton star has not featured for the club all season and is eager to move.

Moreover, Rafa Benitez is keen to sell on Rodriguez, with a move to Qatar now looking increasingly likely. The midfielder only joined Everton last year after being released by Real Madrid.

However, following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti from Everton, the Colombian midfielder has grown further away from the Merseyside club.

Indeed, Rodriguez was the subject of interest from Italian and Turkish clubs. But a move didn’t materialise, leaving the 30-year-old at Goodison Park when the summer transfer window shut.

As we know, though, Rodriguez is now close to moving to Qatar, with the playmaker being photographed at an airport this weekend ahead of a potential transfer.

And on social media, Everton fans are astonished that Rodriguez is moving to a country like Qatar despite his obvious qualities. The midfielder impressed in the Premier League last campaign under Ancelotti.
