Carl Clemons-Hopkins may not have won at the Emmys 2021 but the Hacks star certainly have achieved a lot with their nomination and stood out with their outfit on the red carpet.
The 2021 Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, September 19th at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
Carl Clemons-Hopkins, who stars on Hacks, made history with their Emmys nod as Carl is the first openly non-binary actor who received the nomination in the awards’ 73-year history.

Carl got their breakout TV role as Marcus on the HBO Max comedy-drama series Hacks.
They have appeared in several stage plays including Little Shop of Horrors which got Carl a nomination for the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theater. Carl also performed in Time Is On Our Side and Hamilton.
As for the big screen, the actor starred in the 2021 supernatural slasher movie Candyman.
The actor stunned in a black and white Christian Siriano outfit with a yellow and purple strip inspired by the non-binary flag.

The actor spoke of their partner in a previous interview when they recalled the moment they found out they were nominated for an Emmy award.
“I was deep in a Benadryl sleep,” Carl told Advocate. “My partner woke me up, was like, ‘Hey, you need to check your phone right now.’”
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Hacks star said that their Emmy nod is “just a reminder of how far we have to go for actual equality”.
Carl said: “The actual understanding of humanity. I think a lot of people don’t realise how tenuous the social situation actually is in this country and how very real the danger is for a lot of people who look like me, for a lot of people who identify outside of the heteronormative binary.
“So I’m very excited about all of these firsts and new and most, and I’m also very aware that that’s just how much more we have to keep going.”
