Tottenham Hotspur lost 3-0 for the second Premier League game in a row today, this time to Chelsea – but Cristian Romero impressed.

Nuno Espirito Santo needed a response after a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace last week.

He kind of got one in the first half; Tottenham played with great intensity and appeared to have Chelsea a little rocked early on.

However, Thiago Silva’s second-half opener set Chelsea on their way. N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger added goals to give Chelsea a comfortable win.

Tottenham started with three 1-0 wins, but now it’s two 3-0 defeats on the bounce.

Romero makes his full Premier League debut

After finally returning from a prolonged international break – so to speak – Romero was thrown into the Tottenham side for a first Premier League start.

Romero impressed alongside Eric Dier, even if Chelsea did score three times.

The Argentinian showed his positioning and anticipation by blocking two shots.

Romero also recorded two tackles, two interceptions and one aerial duel in a promising first league start for Tottenham.

Tottenham fans react to Romero display

There wasn’t much for Tottenham fans to shout about, but Romero did show some potential in his first Premier League start.

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Romero was ‘class’ and a ‘gem’.

Others believe Romero’s passing and reading of the game are just so good, and he was Tottenham’s best player in a ‘legit’ personal performance.
