Aston Villa beat Everton 3-0 on Saturday evening – and Jack Grealish loved what he saw from right back Matty Cash as he got on the scoresheet.

Villa have been waiting for their season to really kickstart – and this could be the game to really get them going.

Cash opened the scoring, firing a left-footed effort into the roof of the net.

Lucas Digne headed Leon Bailey’s corner into the net before the Jamaican got himself on the scoresheet.

Cash finally bags first Premier League goal

Cash managed 13 goals in 141 outings for Nottingham Forest, though did occasionally play as a winger.

The 24-year-old had recorded 32 Premier League appearances without finding the net for Villa.

Finally, his moment came.

Cash took in a Douglas Luiz pass before smashing past Asmir Begovic.

To score a first Premier League goal is one thing, but doing in front of the Holte End too? What a moment for Cash.

Grealish reacts to Cash’s Villa goal

Some Villa fans may still not like Jack Grealish after he left Villa for Manchester City.

The truth is though that Grealish remains a big Villa fan – and we saw that on Saturday.

Grealish took to Instagram to post a message about Cash’s goal having been watching Villa at home.

Grealish stated ‘well done brother, deserved that’ having seen Cash find the net.

The pair will no doubt go up against each other this season and beyond. For now though, Grealish is just buzzing to see his former Villa teammate thrive.
