A shock candidate has reportedly entered the race to replace Dominic McKay at Celtic.
After only 72 days in the job, McKay quit his role as Celtic’s chief executive due to personal reasons earlier this month.
Now the Hoops have an unenviable task of replacing him, having worked so hard to replace long-serving figure Peter Lawwell already.
And a certain Ramon Vega is apparently keen on the role.
According to The Scottish Sun, Vega, who won a treble at Celtic under Martin O’Neill 20 years ago, has contacted the Parkhead club via his representatives to sound out the position.
Who is Ramon Vega?
Vega is a former Swiss footballer who represented three clubs in England – Tottenham, Celtic and Watford.
In 2004 he hung up his boots and according to The Sun, became a successful businessman and established his own asset management company.
The 50-year-old, who had just the one season at the Bhoys [on loan from Spurs], has also previously announced his intention to run for president of FIFA.
Herald Scotland rate him as a genuine candidate and pointed to the success of Edwin van der Saar at Ajax as a prime example of how former players can successfully transition into the business side of the game.
