It was a brilliant day for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side hammered Crystal Palace 3-0 at Anfield as Sadio Mane bagged his 100th goal for the club.

In addition to that, Ibrahima Konate made his competitive debut for Liverpool after joining for £36 million this past summer.

And a wonder goal from Naby Keita late on capped a wonderful afternoon for the 2020 Premier League champions.

If there was a negative, it was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence.

Why didn’t Trent play today?

Klopp confirmed before the game that the Liverpool right-back was sent home because he felt ill, but the German confirmed that it is not a COVID-related absence.

He said: “Trent woke up this morning, felt unwell, we just had to send him home. It’s all fine, it’s not Covid. We tested everything, but he didn’t feel well anyway.”

James Milner deputised for the 23-year-old defender and had a pretty good game.

Wilfried Zaha is the sort of wide player that can, on his day, cause even the best right-backs in the business a world of problems.

But the veteran Liverpool star wasn’t unduly troubled by Zaha or anybody else on Patrick Vieira’s team.

At the time of the win, the Reds, who are away to Brentford in the Premier League next week, moved top of the table with 13 points from a possible 15.
