Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of William Saliba last night and have compared him to Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
What’s the story?
Saliba could not make an impact at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, but the French central defender is doing well during his loan spell at Marseille at the moment.
The 20-year-old moved to Marseille on loan from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The youngster has made four appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, and last night he was in action against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League.
The match ended in 1-1 draw.
Saliba started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.
What are Arsenal fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans were very impressed by Saliba and think that he could be the Gunners’ answer to Liverpool centre-back Van Dijk.
Well, some of them anyway.
Saliba was strong at the back, looked classy on the ball, and could have etched his name on the scoresheet.
The 20-year-old took one shot which was on target, had a pass accuracy of 97.4%, took 117 touches, and made one interception.
