Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:11pm, September 17, 2021) that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley should lower the price of the club.
The former Manchester United defender believes that Ashley should do the right thing and sell Newcastle.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Ashley’s life is not going to change if he lowers the price of Newcastle and loses a bit of money.
Neville made the comments like on Sky Sports at St. James’ Park while looking ahead to tonight’s Premier League game between Newcastle and Leeds United.
Newcastle owner Ashley was in talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in the summer of 2020 over a potential sale of the club for £350 million, according to The Telegraph.
Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:11pm, September 17, 2021): “This club has got to be sold quickly, this club has got to change hands. It has to.
“It is one of the great clubs of this country. Mike Ashley has got to dispose of it. It’s easier to say, ‘Drop the price a little bit’.
“But he has to do the right thing at some point. He has got a lot of money. It isn’t going to change his life if he loses a bit more money.”

Newcastle fans would love for Ashley to sell the club to someone else.
The problem is that no one is willing to pay what Ashley wants for Newcastle.
Now, it is easy to say that Ashley should lower his asking price.
It would make it easier for Newcastle to attract potential new buyers if the Englishman does so.
However, Ashley is a successful businessman, and no millionaire or billionaire becomes that wealthy by losing money.
It is unlikely that Ashley will sell Newcastle for anything less than what he wants.
