After eight seasons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air its series finale on September 16 2021. Fans of the beloved show are curious why it won’t be returning for another season.
When Fox decided not to renew the show for a seventh season in 2018, NBC came to the rescue and kept the show running for a couple of years longer.
This gave us fans two more seasons to enjoy, but now it’s time to finally say goodbye.
Why won’t Brooklyn Nine-Nine be back for season 9?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine won’t be back for Season 9 because the narrative has taken its full course and it is simply ending at the right time for the show.
Andy Samberg a.k.a Jake Peralta, said when he was asked to do the show, ‘I’m in, but I think the only way to tell this story is over exactly 153 episodes,’ which was exactly the number Mike and Dan Goor had visioned.
Producer Dan Goor jested about the ending in an Instagram post from February, announcing that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was finishing; “Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honor our characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending so soon, but honestly, I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.”
The ending was perfect because old cast members ended up coming back for the finale, including Gina. Even though Rosa quit working there towards the end of season 7, she still hung around for season 8.
